Frequently asked questions

Is CSAT (Prelims Paper-II) counted for the Prelims merit list?

No. CSAT is purely qualifying — you only need to score 33% or more to clear it. Only your GS Paper-I score determines your position on the Prelims cutoff and merit list.

What happens if I don't clear the CSAT qualifying mark?

If you score below 33% in CSAT, you're disqualified from Prelims regardless of how well you scored in GS Paper-I — both papers must be cleared to qualify for Mains.

Does CSAT have negative marking?

Yes, the same 1/3rd negative marking scheme as GS Paper-I applies: 2.5 marks for each correct answer, with 1/3rd of that deducted for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions aren't penalized.
