Cutoff Predictor

Compare your estimated Prelims score against a cutoff you enter (use the actual published cutoff for the most accurate comparison).

First estimate your score with the Prelims Score Calculator, then enter it here alongside a cutoff figure — the official cutoff once released, or a projected one from previous years — to see your margin and how comfortably you clear it.

The pre-filled cutoff value is an illustrative placeholder, not an official figure — actual Prelims cutoffs change every year based on paper difficulty and vacancies. Replace it with the real published cutoff for accurate comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the pre-filled cutoff values come from?

They're illustrative placeholders only, not official figures. UPSC Prelims cutoffs change every year based on paper difficulty and the number of vacancies, so replace the pre-filled value with the actual published cutoff (or your own projection) for an accurate comparison.

Why do cutoffs differ by category?

UPSC publishes separate Prelims cutoffs for General, EWS, OBC, SC and ST candidates, reflecting reserved-category vacancies. Select your category to compare against the right figure.

Is clearing the cutoff a guarantee of qualifying for Mains?

Clearing the Prelims cutoff only qualifies you to appear for Mains — it isn't a final selection. Prelims marks aren't counted toward your final ranking, which is based on Mains and interview marks alone.
