Seven written papers count: Essay, GS Paper I–IV, and two Optional papers, each out of 250 marks (1,750 total), plus the interview out of 275 — giving a grand total of 2,025 marks.

Do the English and Indian Language papers count toward my score?

No. Both are qualifying papers only — you must score the minimum passing marks, but they aren't added to your final merit total, which is why they're excluded from this calculator.

Is the interview the same as the Personality Test?

Yes, UPSC calls it the Personality Test, commonly referred to as the interview. It carries 275 marks and is added directly to your written total to produce the final ranking.
